How do I become a National Delegate to the United States Earth® Pageants? National Delegates are selected as at large state or regional delegates. Once we receive your request for entry you will be contacted by our National Organizer or Pageant Selection Committee member to conduct a brief telephone interview. During the 2010 pageant year, state preliminaries will be held in various states. To find out if a preliminary pageant will be held in your state, please contact the national office or visit our preliminary pageant page.
Is every applicant accepted? Our goal is to maintain the level of integrity and professionalism that is enjoyed by the International Miss Earth pageant – therefore we will select only the most qualified and committed delegates on every level.
When can I officially enter? We are now accepting national delegates. The deadline to officially enter the 2009 National Pageant is July 1st, 2010. Please note, our deadline will be strictly enforced and all mandatory forms, paperwork, photos and fees must be received on or before our deadline date.
Is there any cost or fee? Yes, in order for our organization to produce a pageant of this caliber, it is necessary for us to charge a one-time fee for each delegate to enter. The fees collected will help to defray the cost of production, operating expenses, mailings, advertising, insurance and many other expenses. We continually seek out sponsors to keep our fee at the lowest possible rate and much lower than the industry standards. Earth Pageant Productions, producers of the United States Earth Pageant are made up of non-paid volunteers and we have operating cost well in the thousands of dollars. The remainder of your pageant fee pays for production staff airfare and accommodations, theater and/or hotel cost, sound and lighting and stage design.
What is the pageant fee? The pageant fee for 2010 is $525.00. There are no additional “hidden” fees required to become a delegate in the 2010 United States Earth® Pageants.
What does the fee include? Your pageant fee includes your hotel accommodations, all meals during the pageant, some competition wardrobe including opening number outfit and competition swimsuit, competition shoes, travel during the national pageant, specially planned events, motivational and educational seminars and your official satin embroidered banner. What does the pageant fee NOT include? Your pageant fee does not include your travel cost/airfare to the national pageant, any travel related fees such as excessive luggage or expenses such as food while traveling. National delegates are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the pageant Host City.
Am I required to stay at the official host hotel? Yes, all delegates are required to stay at the official host hotel. This is for your own personal safety. Delegates will be provided hotel accommodations as part of their pageant fee and will share the room with another delegate. National delegates will be given the option to opt out should they wish to share a room with parents, family members or friends who attend the national pageant, however they will be responsible for all expenses related to the room and will be required to make their own reservations.
May I seek a sponsor? Yes, we encourage you seek out local sponsors to help cover the cost of your participation in the United States Earth®. We are happy to provide you with tips and ideas on how to obtain sponsor and all national delegates receive an official sponsor letter announcing her participation in the national pageant.
How can I pay for my pageant fee? We accepted Visa, MasterCard and Discover Cards along with personal checks, money orders and cashier checks. All fee paid after July 1, 2010 MUST be paid in certified funds.
Do you offer payment plans? Yes, however you may pay your entire or remaining pageant fee at any time prior to your final payment due date. A deposit of $150.00 is required to be placed on a payment plan. Seven days prior to your monthly due date, you will receive a reminder of your payment. Failure to remit the required monthly payment will result in the forfeiture of your place in the national pageant.
How are titles awarded? State and Regional Titles are awarded on a first come, first pay basis and will be formally awarded once payments equaling $450.00 has been received. Upon acceptance of your entry, you will select your three most desired titles in order of preference. We make no claim or guarantee that any of your choices will be available until the payment threshold has been met. Please note; if you reside in the states of Florida, Montana or Oklahoma, you must enter after the preliminary pageant has been held and as an at-large delegate.
What if I am unable to participate after entry, are my fees refundable? Due to the ongoing yearlong planning and costs of operating the United States Earth® Pageants, we are unable to return any deposits or fees received. Under certain circumstances and at the discretion of the National Organizer, fees may be applied to the 2011 national pageant.
Am I required to sell ads for the program book? No, your pageant fee includes one complimentary full-page ad. Additional ads are available at a reasonable cost but are not mandatory. These additional pages can be used to raise more sponsorship. Additional ads purchased will have no bearing on the final outcome of the pageant.
Is there a required performing arts/talent portion of the pageant? The United States Earth® pageant recognizes that many of you have worked hard, spending endless hours perfecting your performing arts talents. In order to allow those delegates who wish to showcase their singing, dancing, musical or otherwise talents, we conduct a special talent competition, held the night before the coronation. The winner is awarded the title of United States Miss Talent, a cash scholarship and the opportunity to perform her award winning talent during the final pageant. This special competition has no bearing on the overall outcome of the pageant.
What are the scoring phases, how is the pageant judged and what are the judges looking for? There are five (5) equally judges phases of the United States Earth® Pageants. Interview, Personality in Swimsuit, Style and Elegance in Evening Gown, Environmental Awareness and Overall Impression competitions. Judges award scores from 1 to 10 including half-points such as 8.5. The highest and lowest score from the entire panel is discarded and the remaining scores are totaled for the composite score. Our judges seek a personable, likable, charming and approachable young women, who is confident, self-assured and able to handle herself in a wide variety of settings. What is the commitment needed, if I become Miss Earth United States®? We recognize that you may have prior commitments, including your education, your career and your family. Miss Earth United States® receives a personal appearance contract, which covers the cost of any travel required. However, we work with each of our titleholders on individual tailored made bases to accommodate any prior commitments, yet allow you the opportunity to utilize your title. In addition, the winner MUST participate in the international Miss Earth pageant to be held in the fall of 2010.
Is there emphasis placed on a specific look? No! We only seek a likable, approachable and personable young lady, who is not only beautiful on the outside, but more so on the inside. She needs to radiant confidence, be self-assured and captivate a crowd. Judges are instructed not to take into consideration height, hair color, eye color or ethnic background. Delegates are not compared or judged against another delegate or specific look, rather only on herself. The delegate with the most points, is the winner.
